Recently in February 2010, the original owner of PrintDoubleSided.com set up an organization to continue PDS and to create other like-minded web initiatives. The goal of this organization, Pennies Are Gold, is to use everyday web technology to effect positive social change. This was inspired by the thought that if each of the millions of visitors that view a website could contribute just a simple task, the effect could be extraordinary.
Proven by the popularity of web 2.0 applications, it has become clear that web technology can certainly make an impact. Our present goal is to redevelop PrintDoubleSided.com and make it much larger and better than before. Here's what we've done so far.
- Pennies Are Gold has received a sponsorship from TrafficCast Inc., and we are actively seeking more.
- The current progress on revamping the design can be viewed here
- Agreed with several high school environmental clubs on contributing content and spreading the word
We are not in a rush to relaunch this project. I want to ensure that everything is ready to go before actively marketing the website.
